About Us
Who are we?
The Consensus Organizing Center is a clearinghouse of ideas, partnerships, and programming to support the advancement and development of residents, business owners, youth, school administration, and other community based organizations. Our blog will detail our work on different projects and help the reader to understand how working in a community can be done in many ways. Our staff utilizes and trains others in the Consensus Organizing Model which is based on the idea of identifying mutual self interest and building social capital. We welcome your comments and questions! We are a project of the San Diego State University Research Foundation and are based at San Diego State University through the School of Social Work.
Our Programs
At the Center we have several programs which help us to achieve our mission and goals. They are The Step-Up Program, the Alex Smith Guardian Scholars Program (including a high school component), Legal Path now A.I.M for Law, and the Community Development Track in the School of Social Work at San Diego State University.
